Fall is such a beautiful time of the year in Clay County.
The mountains turn their gorgeous reds and golds,
and the weather starts to cool down. Every September
locals and visitors alike enjoy the concerts at the Folk
School, plays performed by the Licklog Players at the
Peacock Playhouse, or a beautiful evening ride on Lake
Chatuge.
October brings
the fall Mountain Adventure Artist’s
Studio Tour, which is a self-guided tour of artists
in Clay and Cherokee Counties. Usually held in the
middle of October so that you can enjoy the fall leaves
while traveling from studio to studio. This is a perfect
way to see Western North Carolina and see many of the
American Craftsmen that call WNC home. The tour in
Clay County includes Goldhagen Glass Blowing Studio,
St. Pierre Wood Pottery, and John Crawford woodworker
along with others in the region. These studios are
open to the public throughout the season so please
check their studio hours on their web page in our business
directory. John C. Campbell Folk School offers a Gift Shop displaying
crafts taught at the school, and the Hinton Rural Life
Center also offer unique gifts from around the world. |
