HIKING, WALKING, BACK-PACKING ===================== If you're just a casual walker or an avid "all out" hiker we have it all for you right here. --- Jack Rabbit Mtn Trails - 877-444-6777 (map) (video) JackRabbit Mountain Recreation Area Trails: (828) 837-5152 at 465 JackRabbit Rd., Hayesville (map) .....Probably the nicest hiking and biking trail within 2 hrs of Atlanta. Outer Loop is 2 miles and inner loop is 1.2 miles. Scenic trails along Lake Chatuge and Jackrabbit Mtn. Many other things to do including camping, fishing, swimming, boating & picnicking. Tusquittee Ranger District-Jack Rabbit News *** Lake Chatuge Dam (map) (video) (pics) Lake Chatuge Dam: Very easy and straight paved walk with a beautiful view of the Lake and surrounding Mountains. You can bring your dog or bike and also run. Great place.Roundtrip about 30 minutes. *** Clay County Recreation Park - 828-389-3532 (map) (pics) Clay County Recreational Park: (828) 389.3532 on Myers Chaper Road, Hayesville (map) ..... Paved and easy to walk. Can be added to the Dam walk and the "Gibson Cove" camp area and boat ramp for a total of apx 2 miles. There are ample places to park. We suggest parking at the Dam and walking the Dam and continuing thru the camp area and on to the CC recreational park doen to the children's playground and beach. Includes one moderate hill by the campground. Toilet facility at the campground.
