Clay County is a quiet community tucked away in the southwestern corner of North Carolina where nature's beauty abounds. That beauty lies nearly unchanged.
You can find your own "secret" place to get away from the city. It may be a secluded mountain top retreat with scenic views or a babbling brook running alongside your cabin. Or you may prefer a lake side getaway on the shores of our beautiful Lake Chatuge (Cherokee for "the meeting of the waters"). Maybe a campsite in one of our spaceious campgrounds or a favorite spot in the 64,200 acres of US Nantahala Forest land may define your secret place.

No matter what your taste or desire, Clay County offers you the getaway you deserve. Give us a visit and you will feel like you are at home. To find out more about what our area has to offer click on the links to the left to find such things as places to shop, accommodations, dining and entertainment. Also check out the activities each season offers,

Since we're out in the "Country" we have a large selection of "Get close to Nature" things to do.

If you want to really enjoy the outdoors you've come to the right Place.

So go and enjoy !
