ACTIVITIES

It doesn't get any better than Summer in our area. One needs more hours in the day to cover all the fun "Things to do" every day. Thursday, July 4th is an action packed day on the Square with a Pancake Breakfast served by the Rotary with music, food, awards and entertainment all day (Parade starts at 11:30) in conjunction with the "Centennial 100" committee who are also staffing the Centennial Exhibition next to the Post Office. You may want to stop by at Eagle Forks Vineyard for their 1st anniversary with entertainment, food and free wine tasting from 12 to 6 pm. At night you have a choice of 2 fireworks. Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds or the Brasstown Valley Resort and both starting after dusk at about 9 to 9:45 pm. July 5 and 12 you can enjoy some star gazing at the Rollins Planetarium at YHC. Saturday, July 6th offers "Grocery Bingo" at the Brasstown Community Center and Clay Logan would love to see you there. One of the area's favorite events are the (once a month) "Hot Summer Nights" at the Goldhagen Studios. A casual event with live music and David Goldhagen giving you a close-up of his artistic talent. Bring your own food and drinks but desserts are available for a small fee. The weekend of July 12th is our "Festival on the Square" starting with a street dance on Friday and continuous entertainment on Saturday along with food and local talent offering their wares and the fun continues on Sunday. Lots of vendors and things to see and do. Also on Saturday July 13 our own "Rob Tiger" will be at the "Peacock Playhouse" with some of his friends and the "Songwriter Showcase". For a special treat the Chamber will have its monthly BAH on July 15th at Charlie Kissling's "Walnut Hollow Ranch" farm and he'll be telling you all about his truly healthy and responsibly raised beef. A very informative tour which we highly recommend. Try to stop by at the Thursday "Evening Harvest" from 4 to 8 pm and partake in a "not the average" Farmer's Market with entertainment and cooking demonstrations. The CCCRA's weekly concert on Friday eves will be featuring "Sweet & Lowdown" on the Square at 7pm on July 19th. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the evening. For some indoor entertainment on July 19,20,21,26,2,7,28 come to the "Licklog" and enjoy the musical comedy ""The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee". The 63rd annual Georgia Mountain Fair will be starting on from july 19th thru the 27th.
